Video Fidelity Improvement

Full Motion Video (FMV) suffers from a variety of challenges. Video taken from large stand-off distances is subject to atmospheric effects and low resolution. Video from small unmanned aerial systems (SUAS) such as drones can be subject to high frequency jitter; and low bitrate communications can create noise and compression artifacts. Holistic Video Fidelity Improvement Improving the quality of FMV requires a suite of sophisticated algorithms to address each challenge. Ikena ISR’s suite of real-time image processing algorithms address all these issues at once, and in real-time. MotionDSP’s massively multi-frame stabilization algorithm corrects the high frequency jitter; adaptive contrast lets you see into the shadows; and super-resolution re-constructs the signal removing noise and compression artifacts. These capabilities need to operate on live feeds, not on recorded data, after the fact. This is where MotionDSP differs from other options. Ikena ISR accepts a live 30-frame-per-second video feed (SD or HD), whether analog, digital, or IP, processes it in less than 300 milliseconds, and displays it to the analyst’s screen. And this can all happen on an off-the-shelf laptop running Windows.

Geospatial Awareness

Ikena ISR’s advanced geospatial awareness tools interpolate the metadata to extract pixel coordinates that are as precise as your metadata so you can pinpoint the whereabouts of any object in your video with the highest possible precision. Ikena ISR’s MatchPoint tool can correct for inaccurate metadata and can even georeference video with no locational information. Our georeferencing software replaces existing or non-existent metadata by aligning features within video frames to existing basemap imagery. After georeferencing with MatchPoint, Ikena ISR can extract highly accurate geospatial coordinates and produce up-to-date, accurate geospatial products such as new basemap mosaics from real-time FMV.

Detection & Tracking

Detecting motion from a moving camera can be challenging. Ikena ISR’s change detection and motion estimation algorithms can accurately detect moving objects in a video while correcting for camera movement. Users can also adjust detection sensitivity to filter for both size and speed of objects.  All of this allows objects to be detected and tracked accurately even from sources like moving aerial platforms or drones.
